A Day at Noni's

On Friday we decided to relax a little bit after our trip to New York.  We visited a couple of parks (blog post to follow) and just hung out at Noni's house.  It was a good way to unwind after our busy day.

The girls first started out playing in the sprinkler

Drea had to get her doll dressed to play too!

Of course playing in the sprinkler led to washing the car

One other time we were here they did this.  So knowing our girls they had to do it again.

Charlotte wants to make sure the car is super clean

After all the hard work Drea had to soak her feet...

...then Charlottle had to soak hers.

Finally, quoting Drea, they "needed refreshing drinks and bomb pops."

New York City

When I was a kid my parents always took us to new places.  That was one of my favorite things growing up.  I loved those experiences and it helped give me a sense of adventure.  I want the girls to have that same experience, so I came up with the idea of going to New York.  At first, my thought was just to take them and sight see.  Then after talking to my Mom and the girls, the idea of taking them to the American Girl store came to mind.  So with Noni's help we planned our trip.  We had a wonderful day in the city and we managed to see a few sites along the way.  At one point, Drea said, "Daddy, did we see all of New York?"  I told her we could visit for a year and we would probably never see all of New York.  Needless to say I am planning another trip, but for now here is our pictures of yesterday's adventure.

Waiting to get on the train to go to NYC

Notice in most of the pictures the girls have to pose, just like always

The girls occupied their time on the train by looking though the American Girl catalog
Then they marked what they wanted

Eating lunch at the American Girl store
We arrived right on time for our reservation.  So the girls didn't get to pick out their doll until after lunch.  I think it was the longest lunch ever for them.  The cool thing was they gave them dolls to sit with while they ate.
This was the desert plate.  The girls didn't eat a bite of it because they were ready to shop.  I didn't get any pictures of them shopping because there was wall to wall people and they were so excited bouncing from one place to the next.

This is a fountain Drea wanted to stop and see.  Obviously, Char fell asleep.  Don't tell her Drea got ice cream while she was sleeping.

Go figure Minnie Mouse and Puss in Boots.  The crazy thing was they were on every corner, I don't know how they did it.  Again, don't tell Charlotte she was sleeping still.

Someone finally woke up and we rode on the Ferris wheel with their dolls

Good bye, New York...Thanks for a great day!

A day at the Beach

The girls and I headed to New Jersey for the week to visit friends and family.  What better way to enjoy our time then to take a day and go to the beach.  Our favorite beach to visit is Ocean City, NJ.  No offense to Ocean City, MD, but the NJ version is way better.  The girls always love playing in the sand and building castles, but this year they were loving the ocean.  They usually just hang out at the edge of the water and maybe go in up to their knees, but this year they came out and swam with daddy.  I loved it.

Welcome to Ocean City...see if you can spot the two little peanuts

Of course they both had to be in the pink flip-flops

Seriously, how good does that look...I have no problem driving from WV to eat this...delicious!

Someone fell asleep before the pizza got there

I don't know who looks sillier

What trip to the beach doesn't include Kohr Brothers

I love these next two pictures, they look so happy

...and the spinning bears, which there was no way I was getting on.

One last one from the beach...What a great day!
