Charlotte's New Trick

Charlotte's is a ham. Every time I tried to feed her she blew raspberries, until Mommy got out the camera, then she just wanted to smile. Anyway, at the 1.28 mark of the video she finally does it. I think it was funnier when it was happening, but it's still cute.

A week with Daddy

This past week I was in between jobs (Monkids, my summer job, and teaching) and I had the whole week off to spend time with my girls. I loved every minute of it. I only wish I would have taken pictures to share with everyone. The following is the run down of my week.

  • Monday - We (Drea, Charlotte, and I) let Mommy hang out with us. We delivered Pampered Chef to a few people, went to look for Green Hills Country Club, ate ice cream at the new ice cream place, which really wasn't a new place just a place Drea has never had ice cream from, and went to the park. We had a great day, at 5:30 Daddy went back to Green Hills to play golf....I should have stayed home...I stink at golf, but it was still fun.

  • Tuesday - Stacey had to go to work and I had big plans. I wanted to go to the park again, and then come home and go swimming, we made it to the park for an hour, then it rained. This turned out to be a good thing....it made me realize that I didn't have to do everything in one day and it made for a better week.

  • Wednesday - We were able to swim in the morning which was lots of fun....Charlotte was amazed at everything that was going on outside, she is really noticing everything. We met Stacey for lunch and then went to the DMV, I promised Drea we would go to the pet store if she was good while at the DMV....she was great and we loved the animals, except the snakes, lizards, and big birds. (*And by eating lunch with me, he means...I came home from work to pick up the family to take them to get our car that was getting a tune -up so Andy would have a car to go to the DMV. Then while Andy and Drea went in to Subway to order, I sat in the car and fed Charlotte then took her in to Subway to trade her for my sub which I then took back to work to eat at my desk. And I was still late clocking back in! Sorry, Andy, I don't think anyone technically had lunch with me that day.) - Stacey

  • Thursday - Our big event on Thursday was a trip to Walmart. For most adults this isn't usually that fun, but for Drea this is a big deal. We even looked at the fish and the toys. We also went to Kerri's Korner which is a local bookstore, it is also the teacher store and I needed to get some teacher items....Drea said she needed pencils and erasers for school. We ended our evening with dinner with my cousin, Kristi and her family, she is back at WVU and it was great to see her and her family, again.

  • Friday - Stacey was off again, which was nice. We were able to have some more family time before school started up. Everyone, except Charlotte got a haircut, then we delivered some more Pampered Chef. We met Stacey's coworkers for lunch and of course ate more ice cream. We ended our day with dinner with our friends, Jordan, Sarah, and their little man, Isak.

  • Saturday - The family was busy again, and we went to the chicken wing cook off in Morgantown. We met Emily and Joel, and Aunt Kareen. Uncle Ben was home studying, drinking out of his coffee mug and being anti-social. (I kid because I care) We followed that up by going to the Party in the Park an event our church was throwing. There was a great turn out, probably about 300 people and at least half were from the local community it was a very successful event. As a side note, I ate so many wings at the cook off, that I didn't eat anything at the Party in the Park and they were giving out free food.

  • Sunday - This was definitely a day to rest for everyone at the Niessner household. We went to church in the morning and stayed home the rest of the day. It was a nice way the end the week.
The week was filled with lots of activities, but more then anything I enjoyed spending time with the girls. They are growing fast and I loved being able to just be Dad this week. I feel like we are finally at a place where two seems normal and I don't know what life would be without them. I'm looking forward to some more time off and looking forward to holidays and snowdays.

A Day for Charlotte

I always talk about Drea so today I thought I would focus on Charlotte. Obviously, Charlotte doesn't provide funny quotes or sayings, but she does provide great pictures and videos.

Charlotte getting ready for her first Mountaineer football season

Charlotte's first bowl of rice cereal, she really loves it!

Charlotte loves to grab and hold things tight like her stuffed animals, especially when she is sleeping

These first two videos are short, but kind of funny

This last video is a little longer, but notice how Charlotte learned to keep from falling over.
One last tid bit about Charlotte....We were leaving the family reunion last weekend and we had to walk from the house to the car. It wasn't a far walk or anything, but it was dark. So I told Charlotte who was sucking on her binky, you better hold on to that binky we don't want to lose it. So Charlotte takes the binky out of her mouth and carries it in her hand all the way to the car. Now that is Smart!

Ten more things, I think that I think

1. I think I could be a wedding crasher. Last weekend was Jeremy and Bri's wedding and it was a blast. There aren't to many weddings that I have been to that haven't been fun. I have been meaning to blog about it and put up pictures, but I haven't had time. For you facebook people, Stacey put photos up there. For you nonfacebook people you can go look at wedding pictures at http://www.scottprestonphotography.com/ and click on view session type the password bilotta_wedding all in lowercase. For some reason there are more pictures of Jeremy and Bri then us, oh well.

2. Speaking of facebook, Dave was recently telling me there was a study done about couples that were both on facebook. The study determined that couples that were friends on facebook were more likely to split up because after talking to one another all day on facebook, they had nothing to talk about when they came home. Just another reason not to join.

3. Half empty or Half full. I never knew how to answer this question before. Sometimes I was positive and other times I was negative. I know now. I'm a half full guy (especially if it is half full of Yuengling). Seriously, I don't like negative people, don't bring me down when I trying to stay positive. Try to see the good in everything you might just like it. It might make your life a little less stressful, too.

4. I think Ben is pretty lame. How sad is it that he had to have Kareen steal his mug back. I think he may have broken the rules of the game, but that's okay cheaters never win. (If you don't know what I'm talking about shame on you for not reading our blog more, I talked about this in another posting)

5. Raising kids is hard. I don't want to hear anyone without children telling me it's not. Well, we have dogs, we have lots of friends with kids, or we have lots of nieces and nephews it's not that hard. I say this because this is what I thought. I sound old and a little like my Dad, but you will never understand what it is like until you have your own. When you do, then we can talk.

6. On the flip side, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Sometimes, I joke around and say, "We chose kids over having fun", I probably shouldn't say that because it doesn't sound good and it is not the truth. I love being a husband and a Dad, it is the best job in the world. For example, after the wedding rehearsal, Drea asked me, "Daddy, who is going to marry me?" I told her someone very lucky. Her response, "Daddy, will you marry me?" No doubt about it, that is priceless.

7. I think I want to start reading again at bedtime. I stopped when Charlotte was born because of our new sleeping pattern, but Charlotte has starting sleeping though the night so I'm not as tired, which helps the whole going to bed process.

8. I think someone is going to jump out of the port of john down the street from my house every night when I walk the dogs. I' m convinced someone is going to scare the begeezy out of me.

9. I think people that are selfish have a hard time raising children. If you don't put the child's needs before yours you may end up with some trouble. For example, you shouldn't take your five year old to see a PG-13 movie, there is a reason for ratings. And just because the Family Guy is a cartoon it doesn't mean it is good for your kid to watch.

10. I like my jobs (teaching during the year and working at Monkids in the summer) for a variety of reasons, but one of them is the fact that it ends. Of course, sometimes I don't want it to end and I would like to keep the same kids for another year or more. Anyway, there is something about ending and starting over that I really love.

They're Back!

Today is a very special day for two reasons: 1. Stacey's brother, Jeremy is getting married. 2. More importantly football practice starts today. I'm kidding of course, but both of these events are special in my mind. I'm sure to shed a tear because I never thought this day would come. The Mountaineers haven't played a game since December and I really missed them.

7 years!

Today is our anniversary....7 years can you believe it! So I thought I would go back and look though some pictures from the last seven years and share them with everyone. There are several years where there wasn't many pictures, I think that is because we would always forget to bring the camera and we are much better about it since we have the girls.

These are pics from our first anniversary, that cake was delicious by the champagne was much better than the cake.

80's party

This past Halloween we dressed up like Deigo and Alicia (Drea was Dora)

These last three pics are from NY we went there on our fifth anniversary, Stacey had never been there and we had a great time.

Ben and Kareen's wedding

Fourth of July '07

I know our marriage isn't perfect, but in my mind it is perfect for us. WE make it work and no matter what I know Stacey will always be there for me and she knows the same. Stacey recently blogged about making it with the kids and not only did we make it with them we have made it in our marriage. We still have many years of ahead of us and we are looking forward to them all.
